As department leaders in the first normal school year since Covid-19 emerged, juniors Caitlyn Yu and Maddy Medvitz set out to open as many theatrical opportunities as possible— and as a result, Blackbox Productions at Uni Theatre Arts was created. In her original play Perspectives, Caitlyn Yu tells a deeply personal story about “love, and how it never truly leaves us”.

Perspectives, intended to be performed in a small blackbox theater, is not a large-scale production like that of UTA’s past. Thus, the costumes naturally felt like they should be executed a devised, minimalistic manner. My main criteria while designing were that Young Anna and Future Anna resemble one another, but simultaneously reflect their more childish or mature natures.
