Pearl Krabs from the original Nickelodeon cartoon Spongebob Squarepants
Peal Krabs is characterized by her girly personality, wearing a monochrome pink ensemble in the cartoon. Thus, I originally designed her with a similarly princessy style. Following further dramaturgical research, however, I interpreted her character with a more rebellious side (as shown through constant arguments with her father over her future and an obsession with the rock group, The Electric Skates). Pearl’s revised design reflects this teenage angst, with a plaid skirt and mesh black gloves. We constructed a large letter “P” belt, as seen in the original design, and finished with platform pink gogo boots for a cartoonish aesthetic.
